Papermaker

The Papermaker Level 3 Apprenticeship is designed for individuals working as a machine operator or an assistant in the overall papermaking process, converting raw materials into paper products.

What does the Papermaker EPA involve?

The end point assessment, or EPA, for the Papermaker standard is made up of 2 components.

1

Observation

Apprentices are observed by an independent assessor completing work in a live workplace under normal working conditions using equipment and tools with which they are familiar.

2

Professional discussion underpinned by portfolio

This is a structured, in-depth two-way conversation between the apprentice and independent assessor.  It allows the apprentice to evidence how they have met the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed which are underpinned by evidence drawn from their portfolio.

Apprenticeship standard

An apprenticeship standard is a short document based on an occupation, outlining the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) needed for someone to be competent in the occupation’s duties.

All apprenticeship standards have an accompanying assessment plan. This document details the independent assessment that apprentices will undertake at the end of the apprenticeship. This will include details on the assessment method(s) and processes that will be followed.
