Data Technician

The Data Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who source, format and present data securely in a relevant way for analysis.

What does the Data Technician EPA involve?

The end point assessment, or EPA, for the Data Technician standard is made up of two components.

1

Scenario demonstrations with questions

Apprentices complete two scenario demonstrations – one scenario requiring the apprentice to conduct data gathering operations, and one scenario requiring data analysis and validation operations.  Apprentices are observed during the scenario demonstrations and this is supplemented by questioning to establish understanding of underpinning reasoning.

2

Professional discussion underpinned by portfolio

This is a structured, in-depth two-way conversation between the apprentice and independent assessor. It allows the apprentice to evidence how they have met the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed which are underpinned by evidence drawn from their portfolio.

Apprenticeship standard

An apprenticeship standard is a short document based on an occupation, outlining the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) needed for someone to be competent in the occupation’s duties.

All apprenticeship standards have an accompanying assessment plan. This document details the independent assessment that apprentices will undertake at the end of the apprenticeship. This will include details on the assessment method(s) and processes that will be followed.
