What does the IT Solutions Technician EPA involve?

The end point assessment, or EPA, for the IT Solutions Technician standard is made up of two elements.

1

Project with presentation and questioning

Apprentices produce a 2,000 word report summarising up to two workplace projects using the solutions lifecycle. They prepare and deliver a presentation highlighting their involvement in these workplace projects. This is followed by a question and answer session led by the independent assessor.

2

Professional discussion underpinned by portfolio

The apprentice will submit a portfolio of evidence at gateway. This will support a 60 minute structured professional discussion with an independent assessor.

Apprenticeship standard

An apprenticeship standard is a short document based on an occupation, outlining the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) needed for someone to be competent in the occupation’s duties.

All apprenticeship standards have an accompanying assessment plan. This document details the independent assessment that apprentices will undertake at the end of the apprenticeship. This will include details on the assessment method(s) and processes that will be followed.
