The health and care intelligence specialist level 7 apprenticeship
The Health and Care Intelligence Specialist apprenticeship develops the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to lead complex analytical work within health and care settings, translating large and complex datasets into actionable intelligence. It is suited to individuals working within NHS organisations, local authorities, integrated care systems, or other health and care bodies.
What does the health and care intelligence specialist apprenticeship assessment involve?
The apprenticeship assessment for the Health and Care Intelligence Specialist standard is made up of three components.
Knowledge test
A 50-question multiple-choice test lasting 90 minutes, completed remotely via the Rogo testing platform under controlled invigilation, with a pass mark of 35 to 50. The test covers the core analytical, statistical, and data science knowledge required for the role.
Project with presentation and questioning
After gateway, apprentices complete a substantial work-based analytical project, submitting a 6,000-word report by week 12 of the EPA period. This is followed by a 30-minute presentation and 45 minutes of questioning delivered via Microsoft Teams, covering methodology, findings, and recommendations.
Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
A structured 60-minute professional discussion delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams. The assessor explores how the apprentice applied advanced analytical methods and professional judgement in practice, underpinned by a portfolio of substantive work from the apprenticeship. At progress minded, we guide all parties through the process clearly and calmly, so there are no surprises at the end.

Step 5
Constructive feedback is provided in all cases, highlighting strengths and areas for development so apprentices know how to progress, whatever the outcome.
