The Information Communications Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship
The Information Communications Technician apprenticeship develops the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to install, configure, and maintain IT and communications systems across a range of technical environments. It is suited to individuals working in infrastructure, networking, or technical support roles across public, private, and charitable sector organisations.
What does the Information Communications Technician assessment involve?
The apprenticeship assessment for the Information Communications Technician standard is made up of two components.
Project report with questioning
After gateway, apprentices produce a report of up to 1,500 words on a real ICT project, submitted within 4 weeks of the EPA start date, covering scope, approach, research, findings, outcomes, and conclusions. This is followed by 30 minutes of questioning from an independent assessor, delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams, based on their review of the submitted project.
Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
A structured 60-minute professional discussion delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams. The assessor uses planned and follow-up questions to explore how the apprentice applied ICT knowledge, skills, and behaviours in practice, underpinned by a portfolio of real workplace evidence.
