Apprenticeship
The Fundraiser Apprenticeship
The Fundraiser apprenticeship develops the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to plan, deliver, and evaluate fundraising campaigns and donor engagement activity across a range of organisational contexts. It is suited to individuals working within charities, voluntary organisations, social enterprises, or any organisation that relies on income from fundraising activity.
What does the Fundraiser assessment involve?
The apprenticeship assessment for the Fundraiser standard is made up of two components.
Case for support pitch with presentation and questioning
After gateway, apprentices produce a written case for support of up to 3,000 words, submitted to progress minded within 6 weeks of the gateway date, demonstrating understanding of donor motivations, organisational needs, and ethical fundraising practice. This is followed by a 15-minute presentation and 30 minutes of questioning, with a minimum of 5 questions, typically delivered face to face.
Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
A structured 60-minute professional discussion. The assessor uses planned and follow-up questions to explore how the apprentice applied fundraising knowledge, skills, and behaviours in practice, underpinned by a portfolio of real work from the apprenticeship. At progress minded, we guide all parties through the process clearly and calmly, so there are no surprises at the end.
Apprenticeship standard
Fundraiser apprenticeship standard
The Fundraiser standard covers the skills and knowledge needed to plan, deliver, and evaluate fundraising activity across charitable and not-for-profit settings. It is designed for individuals working in roles where generating income, building donor relationships, and supporting organisational sustainability through fundraising is central to their day-to-day responsibilities.
Fundraiser assessment plan
All apprenticeship standards have an accompanying assessment plan. This document details the independent assessment that apprentices will undertake at the end of the apprenticeship. This will include details on the assessment methods and processes that will be followed.
Book a conversation
Ready to find out more about delivering the Fundraiser standard with progress minded? We are happy to talk through timelines, requirements, and how we work alongside your delivery team.
Process
Our process - we make EPA easy
Step 1
We start with open conversations about your delivery, employers, and standards. This helps us understand your context, answer any questions, and see if we are a good fit.
Step 2
We help delivery teams interpret assessment plans and prepare their apprentices. Delivery toolkits and guides provide top tips, example questions, and practical readiness support.
Step 3
Apprentices schedule their assessment in our booking portal, showing live assessor availability. This reduces admin and email back and forth.
Step 4
Assessors take time to get to know the apprentice and their role. Questions are contextualised to their workplace and experience, with a calm, supportive, and friendly approach.
Step 5
Constructive feedback is provided in all cases, highlighting strengths and areas for development so apprentices know how to progress, whatever the outcome.
