What is apprenticeship Assessment?
Apprenticeship assessment is how an apprentice shows they can do the job they’ve been trained for.
It brings together everything they’ve learned during their apprenticeship and gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and behaviours in a structured, fair and consistent way.
How apprenticeship assessment works
Apprenticeship assessment is designed to reflect real work.
It focuses on how apprentices apply their knowledge, skills and behaviours in practice, rather than how well they can recall information.
Assessment is built around the occupational standard and uses appropriate methods to give a valid and reliable picture of performance.
No matter how assessment is delivered, decisions are always made against clear criteria and grading outcomes. This ensures every apprentice is assessed fairly and consistently.
